Patient Journey

With a team of award winning surgeons and a dedicated team of supporting staff, we like to ensure that your journey through surgery is both informative and stress free.


We are here to guide you to make the right decision for your wellbeing. If you are considering an aesthetic change to your appearance, we know that it’s one of the most important and sensitive decisions you wish to make. Therefore you need to be certain that the medical advice you receive is informative to your best interests and that you are not rushed into making any decisions.

Though you may have waited many years to have your procedure, the time from attending your first consultation to the completion of your surgery, can be carried out safely within 15 days. A consultation with our Team of Surgeons is the best way to find out whether you are suitable for your procedure and what goals can be achieved for you.

This step-by-step guide  below gives an overview of how the decision, booking and completion of your procedure work:

Step 1: Booking Your First Appointment

On confirmation of arranging your appointment, you will be sent via email your appointment date and time together with details of your Surgeon who will be advising you about your procedure goals.

We believe your advice and guidance should only ever be given by the surgeon who will perform your surgery. For this reason, we do not offer consultations with advisors and nurses without seeing your Surgeon first.

Step 2: Consultation With Your Surgeon

This is the opportunity for you to meet with your surgeon. As much as you may have read on the internet, this is the opportunity to further your learning and to have a more visual idea of what you can achieve with your surgery. Though the internet provides a good understanding of your procedure, your consultation is specific to your goals.

Your surgeon will listen to your concerns and what steps can and can’t be taken. This part of your journey is, more importantly, an opportunity to find confidence in your plastic surgeon and build a personal rapport with him. Remember that if you go ahead with any procedure, the same surgeon who performs your surgical procedure will become your first point of contact for many years after.

We assign 2 members of staff to you at your initial consultation. Your dedicated members of our team will be responsible for all correspondence and care in preparation for your procedure and support care after surgery.

On completion of your first consultation, you will be provided further information about your procedure together with more information on your Surgeon, our Hospital and your Patient Guide, which contains your Terms and Conditions of having your treatment. You will also be provided an invoice with the full cost of your surgery.

Step 3: The Cooling Off Period

At Berkeley Square Medical we encourage patients to take their time making their decision. Our prices are reflective of our Specialisation in the field of Aesthetic Surgery and we achieve the best possible results for our patients whilst taking pride in your care and wellbeing.

We recommend waiting to book surgery for at least 24 hours after your consultation. This gives you the time and unpressurised decision to go ahead with your surgery and gives our surgeon the confidence that you have considered both the risks and the results of what your surgery is going to achieve for you. We do not admit patients into surgery less than 14 days from their first consultation.

Step 4: Booking Your Surgery

At this point when you have assessed the positive results your surgery can achieve and are now positive about going ahead with your procedure, we will go through with you all the available dates in which your surgery can be completed. Once you have selected a suitable date, your deposit payment can be made to confirm your surgery.

Thereafter, you will be sent the full confirmation of your surgery together with direct telephone numbers to contact your dedicated patient relations, our Surgeon directly, the surgeon’s PA our hospital where the surgery will take place. Your patient relations will be contacting you to ensure that you are guided responsibly throughout the preparation of your procedure.

We like to ensure that you are fully confident with your surgeon and at any time if a second consultation is required, we will gladly arrange this with you (Subject To Your Surgeon’s Availability).

Step 5: Pre-Operative Screening

As with all surgery, you will be required to have a general medical test. This is to ensure our Surgeon, Anaesthetist and Nursing Team are fully prepared with the knowledge of your current health and well-being. The cost of MRSA screenings is included in the cost of your procedure.

Step 6: Day Of Surgery

You will be required to arrive at our private hospital at least 1-2 hours before your procedure. Your welcome pack provided before your surgery day will include the names, of the nursing and supporting staff. This gives all our patients a good calming sense of comfort in meeting the team.

You will have the opportunity to sit with your surgeon again before your procedure. We encourage our patients that they relax and look forward to the results they will wake up to. It is the surgeon’s and nurses duty to look after you and perform the surgery and your dedicated staffing team will be working behind the scenes during your surgery to ensure a smooth discharge on completion of your procedure. On completion of the surgery, you will be looked after by our nursing team and subsequently discharged unless your surgery requires an overnight stay at the hospital. All patients are given private rooms for comfort during their stay with us.

On leaving the hospital there will be a complimentary chauffeur waiting outside to drop you directly home (Anywhere Within the M25). You will be given an aftercare package together with any medication/garments and dressings you may be prescribed. The package will contain a dedicated line for you to call to discuss with your support team any questions after the operation and a further 3 lines to contact the Surgeon directly, the Surgeons direct assistant and the Hospital in case of any questions.

All patients must feel at complete ease to call us after their procedure, lines are 24 hours for this exact reason.

Step 7: Post-Operative Reviews

You will be required to attend the hospital after 7 days of rest for review and to see how you are getting along with your recovery. Stitches (if applicable) will be removed and a comforting chat with our nursing team to review the changes after surgery and an assessment of your recovery. With most cosmetic surgery, once this appointment is completed, you can start to return to any work commitments without any visible signs of having your surgery.

You will thereafter be booked for regular reviews and assessments approximately 12 weeks after your surgery. This will be to look at your first set of before and after photos, to also make assessments of your recovery and any recommendations to achieving the best possible final result.  After these appointments, you have a further review with your plastic surgeon that you able to arrange with our bookings team.
